Develop Better Collaboration Through Strategic Silence
Virtual Workshop

Effective leaders collaborate, and people who collaborate more are viewed as leaders. The ability to collaborate requires leaders to encourage teamwork and respectful relationships. The best sign of a respectful relationship is getting all of the information out in the open so it can be discussed. In 1 on 1’s and in teams strategic silence can be used to gain more information and help the others come up with even better ideas. Even though T&D professionals are generally collaborative in nature, this program also provides the research that backs it up. This is great information to relay in your leadership trainings! Join Dr. Laura Janusik to learn and practice some of the basic skills of strategic silence.
  • Participants will discuss how silence can enhance relationships
  • Participants will learn the research behind pauses in the US culture
  • Participants will learn the Coaching Pause and practice it in 1:1s
  • Participants will learn and practice strategies for brining strategic silence into a group

About the Speaker

Dr. Laura Janusik

Laura Janusik is a dynamic trainer, coach, consultant, speaker and researcher. She is a worldwide leading expert in teaching and training listening. She uses her MBA and PhD in Communication to help individuals and teams better align their communication through the Power of Listening. As a listening researcher herself for over 20 years, she is familiar with listening research from many disciplines and uses it liberally in her work. Her approach to communication, both verbal and nonverbal, is practical and other-centered and based on research.

She is a past president of the International Listening Association, and she is published both nationally and internationally. In addition to education, Laura was in HR Managements in private industry for 15 years.

Laura left academia after 20 years to bring the message of listening to a wider audience, and she loves working with business leaders and helping them understand and practice “being on the same page” with their teams. Laura often is brought in as a private coach for employees ranging from entry level to C-suite individuals with great technical skills but poor people skills.
