The Professional On Ramp Is Gone

And Nobody Told Your Hires

The bar for a junior role went UP. The tasks that used to build people toward that bar went away. We raised the height of the wall and removed the ladder in the same motion, and then we act surprised that people cannot climb it.

  • What the informal apprenticeship used to teach, silently and for free, and how it quietly disappeared
  • The data behind the shift: what is happening to early-career roles and why the ladder's first rung is vanishing
  • Why the load landed on formal learning, and why that is a structural change, not a program failure
  • What managers still grade young hires on, even though nobody teaches it anymore
  • Where the gap actually lives, and what talent teams can start doing about it

Our presenter, Laura Massetti, is the founder of Real Work ReadyTM, a performance program for early-career talent.

She spent her corporate career on the evaluator side of the table, hiring, managing, and writing the reviews that decided who moved and who stalled. What she saw was a pattern nobody had ever written down. She built The Workplace Performance ModelTM to make it explicit. A two-time C-level operator and Baruch MBA, she now runs the company from Veneto, Italy, and hosts the podcast No One Tells You This.
